A mystery unravels throughout this dark fantasy of spellbinding footwear and the creatures needing them, wearing them, and hiding from them. Though it seems something akin to a Coles Notes version of a much larger tale, In Search of Silver Boughs had sufficient information to draw an intriguing story built upon a classic set of mystical family members.
I suppose this story would reach into the land of novelettes. It is a tale for a single sitting and carries enough tugs and details to demand as such with its somewhat archaic, even Victorian flairs of voice and scenery. There's intrigue and mystery clung to some fairy tale-esque forces enough to guarantee interest. The oddity of the cobbler really carried this one for me.
